UC Master Gardener Program of Colusa County

The Master Gardener program began with a seed of an idea planted by Melodie Johnson of the Colusa County Farm Bureau. Melodie and Mike Murray, UCCE County Director transplanted that idea into a program. As the seedling grew, Melodie and Gerry Hernandez, also of the UC Cooperative Extension were made co-coordinators. The inaugural class of 15 Master Gardeners began training in January 2009 with 17 weeks of training.

Since 2009, the Master Gardeners have volunteered 5,000 hours and made 10,000 face to face contacts.
